1. Service Description
Torify provides Japanese-locale API tools (collectively, the "Service") for AI agents and developers. The Service includes REST API endpoints, an MCP server, and related documentation. By accessing the Service, you agree to these Terms.
2. Payment
The Service is available under two billing models:
- Pay-per-call (x402) — $0.02 USDC per request on Base L2. Payments are settled on-chain and are non-refundable once confirmed.
- Monthly subscription — billed via Polar. Subscriptions auto-renew monthly. Cancel any time; no partial refunds for unused periods.
Free-tier MCP access (100 req/day/IP) requires no payment.
2a. Refund Policy
30-Day Money-Back Guarantee: If you are not satisfied with a subscription plan (Pro or Enterprise), you may request a full refund within 30 days of the initial purchase by emailing contact@torify.dev with your subscription ID. Refunds are not available for renewal billing cycles or after the 30-day window.
EU Cooling-Off Right (Distance Selling Directive 2011/83/EU): Consumers in the European Union have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days of subscription commencement without giving any reason ("cooling-off period"). To exercise this right, notify us via the contact above before the 14-day period expires. If you explicitly request that the Service begins during the cooling-off period and you later exercise the right of withdrawal, you will owe a pro-rated amount for the days of Service actually provided. x402 per-call payments are excluded from this right as they are executed instantaneously on a per-transaction basis.
2b. Plan Changes (Upgrade / Downgrade)
- Upgrade (Pro → Enterprise): Effective immediately; charges are prorated for the remaining days of the current billing period. The prorated amount is charged immediately and the next full billing cycle reflects the Enterprise rate.
- Downgrade (Enterprise → Pro): The Enterprise plan continues through the end of the current billing period; the Pro rate applies from the next renewal. No lock-in; you may downgrade at any time.
- Cancellation: Access continues until the end of the paid period. No credits or refunds are issued for unused days beyond the 30-day guarantee window.
- Restriction: Downgrading to Free removes API key access; MCP free-tier (100 req/day/IP) remains available.
2c. API Call Quota and Reset Policy
Important — Prepaid Payment Instruments Act Compliance
Pro and Enterprise plans include monthly API call quotas (Pro: 10,000 calls/month; Enterprise: 1,000,000 calls/month (Fair Use)). The following terms apply to these quotas:
- Monthly Reset: API call quotas reset on the first day of each billing cycle (typically the same calendar day as your subscription start date).
- No Carry-Over: Unused API calls do NOT carry over to the next month. Any unused quota expires at the end of the billing cycle.
- No Refund for Unused Quota: We do not refund or credit any unused API calls. Your monthly subscription fee compensates for service availability and quota allocation regardless of actual usage.
- Overages: If your usage exceeds the monthly quota, additional requests will return
429 RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDEDuntil the next reset. Upgrade to a higher tier or contact us for custom quotas.
This policy ensures Torify subscriptions are categorized as service subscriptions (役務提供契約) rather than prepaid payment instruments (前払式支払手段) under the Japanese Funds Settlement Act, exempting this service from prepaid issuer registration requirements.
2d. Fair Use Policy
Plan call limits are set generously above typical sustained workloads:
- Pro: 10,000 calls/month hard cap. Calls beyond this monthly limit return

These limits are enforced at the infrastructure level and are not negotiable on standard plans. If your business requires sustained volumes above 1,000,000 calls/month, please contact us at contact@torify.dev for a custom plan with adjusted limits, dedicated infrastructure, and pricing tailored to your usage pattern.
3. Acceptable Use
You may not use the Service to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation
- Circumvent or manipulate payment controls
- Conduct denial-of-service attacks or excessive automated scraping beyond plan limits
- Resell or sublicense access without express written permission
- Reverse-engineer the Service's proprietary data sources or algorithms
4. Service Availability
No uptime guarantee is made for the free MCP tier. Pro plans include a 99.5% monthly uptime SLA; Enterprise plans include 99.9%. SLA credits are the sole remedy for downtime. Current status is available at /status. External uptime monitoring: Uptime Monitor ↗.
- To claim an SLA credit, email contact@torify.dev within 30 days of the incident with: your subscription ID, the incident date/time, and a description. Credits are applied as a deduction to the next billing cycle.
- SLA applies to torify endpoints (wareki, invoice, postal, etc.). External API outages (NTA, zipcloud) are excluded from SLA calculation.
5. Data Accuracy
Responses are sourced from official Japanese government databases (NTA, zipcloud, etc.) and are provided as-is. Torify does not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data returned. Do not rely solely on Torify responses for legal or financial decisions without independent verification.
6. Intellectual Property
The Torify name, logo, API design, and documentation are proprietary to the operator. You retain ownership of any data you submit. You grant Torify a limited license to process submitted data solely to provide the Service.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS AT YOUR SOLE RISK.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TORIFY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. TORIFY'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU IN THE THREE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access immediately, without notice, if we determine you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases. Prepaid x402 amounts are non-refundable; subscription fees for the current billing period are non-refundable.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. Any dispute shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after the "Last updated" date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. We will notify subscribers of material changes via email.
